Important information about needles compatible with your SurePalTM pen device

Sandoz are writing to inform you of a recent update regarding the needles provided with your SurePal^TM pen device.

You may have noticed that you received BD Micro-Fine Ultra^TM 4mm Needles instead of previously supplied BD Micro-Fine Ultra^TM 5mm needles. This change has been implemented as part of Sandoz’s initiative to make BD Micro-Fine Ultra^TM 4mm Needles available as a standard ancillary item for patients prescribed Omnitrope^® (Somatropin).

Please note that the SurePal^TM instructions for use leaflet accompanying your SurePal^TM pen device has not been updated to reflect the addition of 4mm needles. Please be reassured that the BD Micro-Fine Ultra^TM 4mm needles have been assessed by Sandoz and have been confirmed to be compatible with the SurePal^TM Pen.

Shorter needles can be associated with reduced discomfort during the injection process. However, we understand that using BD Micro-Fine Ultra^TM 4mm Needles may feel different and if you prefer to switch back to BD Micro-Fine Ultra^TM 5mm Needles, please inform your homecare company, and they will ensure that you receive 5mm needles with your next delivery.

If you get side-effects with any medication you are taking, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. This includes any possible side effects not listed in the information leaflet that comes in the pack. You can report side effects via the Yellow Card Scheme at www.mhra.gov.uk/yellowcard. By reporting side effects you can help provide more information on the safety of your medication.
