Dr Sameer Mistry is a senior physician leader with more than 20 years of experience in pharmaceuticals, medtech, consumer healthcare and digital health across a wide range of disease areas. At Sciensus, Sameer will lead our clinical and medical strategy as we work to strengthen our support for patients, healthcare partners and the biopharma companies we work with.
Most recently he was a Global Medical Lead at GSK, working in early-stage drug development in respiratory disease, gastroenterology and dermatology. Prior to this he held a variety of leadership roles at GSK and at Johnson & Johnson during which time he successfully developed and launched a range of new medicines and medical technologies. Sameer’s experience spans medical affairs, patient safety, drug development, clinical research, market access and commercial strategy at UK, European and global levels.
Alongside his executive roles, Sameer has been a trustee and non-executive director at LifeArc since June 2023. LifeArc is a UK-based self-funded medical research organisation with one clear purpose – to transform the lives of millions of people living with rare diseases and drug-resistant infections. They do this by providing funding, scientific expertise and by partnering with academia, early-stage companies, industry and other life science organisations to develop new tests and treatments. LifeArc has contributed to the development of several successful medicines in areas of great unmet need, including Keytruda, which has treated millions of cancer patients, and other treatments for dementia, inflammatory bowel disease and rheumatoid arthritis.
Before joining industry, Sameer worked as a doctor in the UK NHS and qualified as a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He graduated in medicine from the University of Manchester and was elected as a Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine last year.
