Richard, from Cambridgeshire, has been treated in his home by Sciensus staff since early September 2021, following an infection in his right lower leg. Here, he describes how the ‘extremely professional’ Sciensus team have helped his recovery.
When Richard first developed a serious infection in his leg, he had to travel to hospital daily for a course of intravenous antibiotics. The infection severely limited his mobility and it was difficult for him to find suitable transport to the hospital apart from expensive taxis, so he was thankful when a plan was approved for Sciensus nurses to provide intravenous antibiotics at home.
Richard says: “To have polite, friendly, knowledgeable professional nurses treat you in the comfort of your own home makes a big difference.
“I can’t work at the moment because of my leg so I’m currently unemployed and living off my savings. It would be almost untenable to keep doing hospital visits and having nurses treat me at home is a lot more convenient.”
For around a month, Sciensus nurses visited Richard daily to administer the intravenous antibiotics and change his dressings. .
Richard praises the Sciensus nurses punctuality and competence, saying: “They were very professional and turned up when they said they would. I couldn’t fault them. I’m not a medic so I’m totally in their hands, and they really put me at my ease.”
Richard has nothing but praise for the Sciensus nurses, saying: “All staff were impeccably turned out, polite, friendly and extremely professional in their approach to their duties. I commend them for the exceptionally well organised team that they are.”
