White Paper: Investigating Patient Benefits in Home vs. Clinic-Based Treatment
An independent exploration of the patient benefits of home cancer treatment.
Download our white paper which explores the benefits from the patients perspective, of receiving cancer treatment at home vs clinic.
One in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Of these, around 27% will receive chemotherapy to treat their cancer. Most often this happens in the hospital or clinic, but it is also possible to have chemotherapy delivered at home.
There is evidence that some patients prefer having chemotherapy-at-home or are more satisfied with it compared to treatment at the clinic, and that it can offer quality of life benefits such as:
- Removal of the need to travel
- Reduced time spent waiting to see specialists
- Continuity of care team
- Reduced risk of hospital-acquired infections
- The comfort and security of the home and increased feelings of control
The research gathered data from patients who received treatment at home or the clinic and included a combination of in depth interviews and quantitative surveys.
